My new Photo Gallery

A few and some extra months ago, I wrote that it would be nice to have a local web application that would make it easier to manage my photos online. Suffice to say, that day will not come anymore and my system is fine dishing out static web pages.

The program I have been using creates web galleries on a static template. In idiot’s terms it means the pages will look exactly the same as the first time I build them. I have been playing around with the gallery found on DurhamDrunks (a dynamic program, where things can easily be moved around and can look different on repeat visits), and it just sold me as a user.

It is run on Coppermine, a very powerful web application for photo albums. Of course, I was reluctant at first, too much clutter I thought, things here there and all over the place. It seemed like another application for computer idiots. While my (renamed) PhotoBlog is mainly all white/pictures say more than words, this application encourages all that extra baggage.

But with all this extra webspace, I can’t see why it can’t hurt. So I created one like all the other geeks out there. I hope you find it useful and hey please start up your own page, it would be awesome and you will be joining a very tight knit community. It’s even got all these cool themes if you’re not the anti style like I am.

The start of something new. A very satisfying feeling. I will continue to keep updating all my photos in my PhotoBlog. That will be a mostly picture run site, artsy, minimal words. This new online photo gallery is for us all, so if you have pictures you want to show me, don’t hesitate to create your own albums. IT’s OPEN.
