Some video game excitement

Doom 3 - In Stores Now -Lunabean.com - Video Game News

Looks like I might want to actually purchase a PC game this time and see how well this title stacks up. From what I heard though, everything ranks up a 7, but the graphics have unanimous at 10. Should I purchase a game simply on industry changing graphics alone? I know Half Life 2 will soon come in and give FPS and gut check in reality physics. I’ll give it try before I buy it I guess.

San Andreas looks cool. I think the only reason people should be excited about Doom 3 is for the grsphics. Those types of games have always puzzled the hell out of me. All you do is shoot shit up for 40 odd hours. There’s not even the hint of a decent story. I think these games are even a step below something like Pa Rappa the Rapper.

Shooting shit up for 40 hours isn’t too bad. Heck we drive around in GTA getting us in trouble, just so we can get some cops on our ass and we try to shoot them.

Doom has a somewhat decent story, most people still remember it, even a decade after the original. In this game, they try to delve the story a little bit more by having non villain characters in the game that talk to each other and stuff before they get killed in your face. Your played even gets like a PDA to keep in contact with the other soldiers but then they all end up dying anyway.

But in this case, this game’s graphics help its other attributes. I can only help that this game looks as good as the first time I saw Mario 64. The original was a classic that got beaten by alot more other qualitfying knockoffs. The fact that it has been so long means that the game has changed alot and that they have to resort to graphics to get back on the playing field.
