First Day back at DEM »

4th of July weekend

With working at a jewelry office and the almost insane amount of hours / work that goes on, the 3 day 4th of July weekend came at a great time. From what I previously understood, I thought my first official day back at DEM was July 5th, so my first day back on the job would be a paid holiday. Turns out that case wasn’t true and I will be taking the 5th off without any pay. ;( But there was the 4th to be thinking about.

So yes, after working with little sleep for that whole month, I was tired. But I’m not going to lie, after a long week of work or school sometimes I just like to go to the mall and browse/shop. Part of it is because I absolutely get nothing done when I am with another person and another part of it is because I am just picky. So shopping continued for several hours on Friday, and then continued some more when I woke up and forced myself out of the house on Saturday because a family of 8 was sleeping over. I didn’t want to spend any second in my house and just forced myself to just browse up and down Rte. 2.

Sometimes I just like to clear my head. When I am at the mall, nothing seems to matter. It’s not like I’m antisocial. I get very excited when I see someone I know and so far have seen plenty of old faces in the past week or so. Plus, to me, a mall is so fake resembling, it can always bring your reality farther and farther away.

Lauren called me and I finally made plans to get out so we peaced out to Federal Hill again. Dinner and drinks at Andino’s, the soccer team of 15 year old girls, Waterfire traffic, barking mean dogs, phone calls from Maine/NH, Trinity Brewhouse beers. It was a very expensive night that was added on by the fact of a $100 parking ticket in the middle of downtown. And that’s not even worth writing about.

Although I must add the Trinity Brewhouse was very cool. You most likely will get your money’s worth because the beer is very fine and cheap. They make their own in case you didn’t know.

I woke up the next day on the 4th and did some computer stuff (which is quite obvious). I played some Ballers and then headed over to JT’s.

The Doc: Dude, I can’t wait for next year
S: Next year what?
The Doc: The 4th,

I took my time on everything that was there. My first beirut game was at 5:30, first beer an hour before that, and eased out on the food. JT’s parties are always fun, but it seems more and more each year we all change but it’s nothing that I haven’t already seen.

Which is probably why once I got the opportunity, I made it an even longer night when I headed to party with Alicia and her sis. Partying with new people reminds myself what it felt like to learn to play kings and beirut. Not saying I forgot already, it’s just we played with different Kings rules, and c’mon playing Beirut on a 6 and 1/2 foot table and then playing on a 9 ft table is not easy to adjust to.

I guess I am just a sucker, but I slept forever the next day. Only thing I remember is Dodgeball with Meg and Jay. Funniest movie I never expected.

Only here on ESPN “The Ocho”.

Thanks to a great 4th weekend everyone.

I remember Jon Schmeddinghoff thinking “The Ocho” being the funniest thing, and ket laughing everytime it got repeated.

I still think there are too many jokes to only watch the movie once.
